COHH Update - November 2022
In the above photos, Lourens & Ted, two of our son Elijah's best friends and wonderful kids in Grand Vide, are growing from adolescence into teenage years. They are Haiti's future and hope.
Over the past 18 months, Haiti has been in shambles as a nation. Difficulties & despair have left me virtually silent; I’ve not communicated due to the pain in my heart. Families in Grand Vide like Ted and Lourens' cannot find food, and money is scarce to send their kids to school. A small group of youth have resorted to crime, and insecurity has grown.
I’ve never contemplated giving up more than I have over the past six months. But…recent prunings in Grand Vide are finally producing fruit that will last. God’s great mercy in Haiti's despair is turning people's hearts to God. COHH's mission has simplified efforts to equip local leaders to lead; for the people, by the people. Here are a few examples of what's going on that give Lourens & Ted tools to grow in God, produce sustainable fruit, and lead. August - 14 of 17 COHH School 9th graders pass difficult National Test September - COHH adds two (2) local operations and finance directors -
October - "Trinity of Hope" School Food Program provides emergency food provision to COHH student families in need and to COHH School for School Year 2022-23
Nov 14th - COHH School is in Session!
Nov 15th - COHH Leadership Committee is established Nov 17th - Persecuted godly teachers who fled last school year are returning
Your continued faithful partnership is restoring Haiti through the next generation. Because of your prayer & support, God is awakening Haiti through the least of these. 100% of all financial support directly goes to evangelistic and educational efforts in Grand Vide. Thank you for helping bring sustainable hope through Christ to the next generation. Arise, Shine! - Brian |

November 14th - SCHOOL IS IN SESSION! |
PHOTO: Many of our kids' friends are now middle and high school students at COHH School! YEAR #6 at COHH School opened Monday, November 14th. Schools & hospitals remain closed on Mainland Haiti. Despite challenges in food & finance, COHH School and its staff are stronger than ever. All 17 of last year's staff are returning, and 2 new godly teachers are joining.
Since mainland schools remain closed, many 7th - 11th grade students are returning home to attend school locally with their families. COHH School has always been an avenue to "return the hearts of the children to their parents, and the hearts of the parents to their children". This continues to happen more and more. Trinity of Hope Food program has helped meet our lunch needs, as the majority of students walk 3+ miles to and from school daily.
WHAT WE NEED: Financial support for teachers' payroll, student books and supplies, computers, National School Certification costs, and Committee oversight. Please pray for our students and staff for an incredible school year. |

COHH LEADERSHIP COMMITTEE IS ESTABLISHED |
Every missionary's goal is to "work ourselves out of a job". Moving from a role of "Commander --> Coach --> Counselor --> Consultant". This is God's heart and the fruit of true Kingdom transformation...here on earth as already is in heaven. This week, 7 New "KOMITE COHH" leaders are stepping into a new chapter of local mission operational leadership.
These godly leaders have demonstrated integrity, character, capacity, and humility over the past 8 years. They are embracing the call to lead their local community by seeking God, voluntarily serving their families and community, and helping lead COHH's educational and evangelistic efforts in Grand Vide.
These leaders are paving the way for us in the US to come along side them from afar. When Haiti re-stabilizes, we can support them in future needs (medical care, agriculture, etc) as God leads. Until then, we will "Go at the pace of the children" - Genesis 33:14. |

Godly Teachers who fled last school year are Returning |
Luckeson, COHH School's English teacher, taught English in The COHH House of Prayer to over 80 kids. Sadly, the program abruptly ended due to threats on Luckenson. He & others fled to the mainland in April.
Seven months have past since he & others left Grand Vide. By God's grace alone, local leaders are stepping up to remove injustice. As a result, Luckenson and others have committed to return to Grand Vide in November to continue the wonderful work. Luckenson is a perfect example of of God-fearing people who are bringing hope to Haiti & the next generation. He is brave, humble, servant-hearted, and capable. |

HAITI'S PATH TO RESTORATION |
What will it take to Restore Haiti? This video accurately discusses Haiti's current humanitarian crisis. It diagnoses the problem, but fails to identify the solution. Nations continue to seek "man's solutions": financial & military support, sanctions, and food aid. But God alone can restore Haiti. COHH island's location enables us to support the local church community, thus bringing God's solution. |
